I agree but they ... By: Race62hud. on 15 Jun 11, 18:47:58 I agree but they are from the same original species. Minutely diverged. But I don't care about social/border disputes. I own them both and love them both myself. PRE and the Lusitano people can argue black vs. white to each other dosent change the facts. Man is not capable of breeding and changing a species so little in 60-70 years without massive inbreeding as was done with cattle or the miniature? breeds of horses. Its all just paper in the end. Lvoe them for what they are, Perfect!
Well since the two ... By: bonnie448. on 11 Jun 11, 06:15:58 Well since the two blood lines have been separated for 60 to 70 years, I would hardly call the PRE and the Lusitano the same breed, I? lived in Spain for 14 years, and they would laugh at you if you said that. The two have very distinctive bodies, and they have both developed into different breeds due to the crossing of dilutant genes in the Lusitanos. Only recently were Chestnuts allowed to be registered in Spain. Not buckskin, or cremellos, and they like very little white markings.
Lusitano's and ... By: Race62hud. on 04 Apr 11, 20:15:55 Lusitano's and Andalusians are? the SAME horse, One being Portuguese and the other being Spanish is all. The lusitano's have kept more of their stock horse type hip and build (bullfighting) and the Andalusians have been so called refined for more height and detailed features for classical dressage work is all. The Lippazans are nothing more then Andalusians bred with a few Polish Arabs a long time ago as well. Jennets are also in the same family tree along with the all powerful Barb.

By: stagingatrafficjam. on 12 Nov 11, 23:14:13 a running walk is a specific gait, completely different than? a normal walk. also, tracking up is defined as the horse's hind hoof fitting perfectly into the hoofprint of the front hoof, meaning there is absolutely no overreach, which is exactly what i said about a normal walk.

It's honestly ... By: LotteBubbles1995. on 05 Nov 11, 14:39:32 It's honestly insane all these people outraged by the horrors of modern dressage.
I think these horses are beautiful and the riders and animals are far more skilled then I'll ever be-willing admiting this.
I've been around modern dressage or what seems to be 'fake'? dressage apparently and this apparent horror fest I've witnessed is missing.
The Lipizzaners are amazing. the riders are amazing. Why don't you focus on that and pull the stick out of your ass and enjoy it like the rest of us
Why does it have to ... By: LotteBubbles1995. on 05 Nov 11, 14:34:38 Why does it have to be REAL Dressage. It is CLASSICAL(caps in place of italics) dressage true, and wonderful to watch. But I know? many people who've spent years working with their animals who look just as stunning as these. Shame that apparently they've wasted their time on some sort of 'FAKE' dressage. It's All Dressage, styles differ-get over and learn to appreciate the different types.
While I have to ... By: LotteBubbles1995. on 05 Nov 11, 14:24:57 While I have to agree it was beautiful-no dressage rider(or other associated person) would say so otherwise- I will admit I'm fond of 'modern' dressage.
Anky and Isabelle will be thought of fonding in my mind and my familys seeing as two of our foals gained them as thier name sakes-Anky and Izzy. There is a big difference between classical dressage and what most people see when they watch at dressage days/shows.? Fact-not everyone can ride like this-though it'd be nice- not happening
they do get turn ... By: philburgess535. on 13 Aug 11, 17:07:27 they do get turn out and can be seen at stud in Piber. They are of course worked on a long rein, during warm up and training,? but rarely mid performance, unsurprisingly. "long and low" is a commonly misinterpreted notion, exagerated by some modern dressage fanatics, but the true longer, lower frame is adopted by classically trained horses, such as these, during extension etc.

By: ShimmeringShai. on 03 Mar 11, 07:16:59 And not to mention no warmblods that cost a million bajillion dolllars cos they have nice paces, and then break when theyre half way through their career. I hate how biased? dressage has become today, that the horse has to look a certain way etc. I get downgradeded when i ride my difficult programmes because when my mare (Akhal teke-shes very narrow) cant see when shes doing something right FOR HER (shoulder in, for example). I love dressage, and this is dressage at its best.

It's the? only explaination I find..
There is I think a lack in people's mind today, say a gap between them and natural things ..animals here. So the average person can't even SEE when an animal says "it hurts", "I find no pleasure in what I am doing", this is not my natural attitude", and so on.
This, stating that suffering in not considered beautiful by the normal human with a normal brain.

These horses seem ... By: DJBelbe. on 02 Dec 11, 02:16:17 These horses seem to like or at least be OK with what they are doing. None looks hopeless or fearful. But if they didn't like the work who cares about how well groomed and housed they are? horses preffer rain and dirty coats to being locked all day. They don't know what euros? or dollars are. What matters is that these horses are trained properly and have an interesning "job". else all the money in the world wouldn't matter.
I would rather a ... By: DJBelbe. on 02 Dec 11, 02:09:46 I would rather a horse that does the piaffe and courbette in freedom! That's why I like stallions so much, they love to show off and perform all these spectacular movements? to show just how powerful and agile they are.

By: DJBelbe. on 02 Dec 11, 02:06:46 hahaha! used to hate it too till I tried working on long reins with a long fluffy tailed horse (Lusitano? stallions usually have lots of tail and mane). The darned reins kept getting tangled on the tail! LOL! only then did I realize the purpose of the ridiculous braid
most of these ... By: DJBelbe. on 02 Dec 11, 02:04:36 most of these horses retire at age 30 in good health. Classical dressage is just? a pretty name for a saddle horse oriented gymnastic program.
what's not natural ... By: DJBelbe. on 02 Dec 11, 02:02:47 what's not natural?? I've seen the stallions at my yard perform every single one of those movements wile play/fighting each other or when showing off to mares. My own stallion is particularly keen on the piaffe when I tell him he can't chase the mares that cross us on trails and an older stallion is fond of the courbette and capriole when playing tag with me.
don't agree with ... By: DJBelbe. on 02 Dec 11, 01:59:27 don't agree with draw reins either but none of those horses is scared. Such movements get the horse pretty excited, it's hard enough to get them as quiet and disciplinated as you see! Remmember these are all stallions. I for have have a stallion who gets? all pumped up just by doing the spanish walk! If I asked him a capriole he'd explode jumping around like a gazelle, LOL!
yup, horses on at ... By: DJBelbe. on 02 Dec 11, 01:54:25 yup, horses on at least 2 of these schools work soundly untill they are 30! If that's not a good health program i dunno what is.
I confess some of them look a tad annoyed at times and a couple appear too submissive for my taste, but none looks fearful of abused.
I've personally seen the Lusitanos being trained at the shade of trees back home and all you? could hear were the birds and the hooves. Both horse and handler were as peaceful and quiet as you'll ever see.

The art of dressage ... By: simpsondesign. on 16 Feb 11, 20:56:48 The art of dressage is an art form that requires communication and commitment on the part of the horse as well as the rider. No horse is going to perform in the relaxed manner that you see on this video if they are being abused. Horses understand the touch of the whip telling them to activate certain parts of their body because my arm is just not that long for me to touch their hind leg or quarters to ask them to bring it more under? their body to lighten the forehand.
