Taking a friends horse out for his 1st trail ride. He was awesome, w/t/c, didn't care that he got passed, had no issues being in the front, going off on his own or having hyper Piper (the dog) fly passed him on a few occasions.. :-) He's going to be an awesome little horse!

Needed to find a way to get on a BIG horse. Matt is a Belgian who stands at 18.1hh. He's a gentle giant therefore I thought I would try something to help me on his back without the assistance of other people or objects... Using Matt as my "helper" I can now get on him by myself!! :-)

Shylo doing great 2 weeks after throwing a bucking fit for Dustin. (he was good with me, but apparently had "men" issues.) He seems to be over that now and doing amazing. (16 weeks of my uncle owning him)

I had to get on and off a dozen times in a row to give her a "clue" Its hard on a huge horse..lol.. BUT.. She stands for me now and doesn't move till I ask? her to. She still moves with her owner, but not every time... She's getting better with her though.. so thats good... But ya.. percherons are stubborn.

To be honest, it seems odd but Shylo was better when trotting in the beginning.. When? you only asked to walk, he'd be more tense till he "trotted it out" Even when I was riding him before Dustin started working him.. I'd have to jog him or he'd tense up... For some reason it just worked better this way.. Now of course he's great, even my green uncle is riding him..
no offense but at ... By: ximmelv. on 06 Feb 08, 02:53:21 no offense but at the beginning it doesnt look? like your uncle warmed him up before asking to trot. Always walk your horse from the ground and the saddle before trotting. The 2 y.o looks good, maybe some spurs would help.
Shylo was great down trail with me, but we realized it was MEN he didn't like.. So after Shylo bucking like a rodeo horse with Dustin, he continued to work with him.. This is only a week after the "fiasko"

I still think? it's funny though how he let me ride him and never bucked, yet with men.. bucked them all off.. Thank God Dusting knows hoe to ride and was willing to keep with it for my uncles sake.. Obviously nothing I did helped for the "man" issue.. lol.. Actually my uncle will FINALLY be getting on him sometime this week.. Hopefully I'll be there to take the video..
