A show that has charmed millions of people in other parts of the world is now playing in the United States. What makes Cavalia special is that the stars are horses, riders, and acrobats who combine to create a visual extravaganza. Breshna Omarkhel of VOA's Afghanistan Service produced the piece. It is narrated by Penelope Poulou.

Have you ever tried to work with a stallion and a mare in heat at the same time in the same place? It doesn't work! At best it's comical and at worst it's a dangerous catastrophe. I doubt Cavalia have anything against mares they're just making good safety? choices.

Either way, it is a no win. These animals are not being tortured, so save it for some other video.

Geldings are big puppy dogs and usually go with the flow more than mares. I have ridden more mares than geldings, but sometimes I can't stand mares. Almost all of the mares I have ridden don't want to work and throw fits about it, and spook, buck, and spin. Personally, I like geldings a tad more, because I cannot deal with overly sassy horses.? They don't use mares, because they use stallions. :)

Seriously both of ... By: chemicalreligion. on 16 Apr 12, 06:18:38 Seriously both of you, do either of you ever watch a 4-star riding coming to the water jump on cross country, or trying to make the long stride to a big oxer in show jumping?? Probably half or more of them put the whip in one hand and are going in the big drop into the water one-handed... It's smart, effective riding. Not to mention, have YOU ever been hit with a jump crop? THEY DON'T HURT! They make noise, and make contact behind your leg. Dressage whips sting, but jump? bats don't...

who whips a horse ... By: chemicalreligion. on 16 Apr 12, 06:10:04 who whips a horse before a jump? really? DUH,why do people ride dressage with a whip? To re-inforce? your leg aid... the whip isn't just used as a punishment, in fact that's NOT how the whip should be used at all or your horse gets too scared of it! A tap on the shoulder, or a little reminder hit coming to a big fence... it's not "bad" or "mean"... Or maybe it isn't visible to viewers but a rider could be feeling their horse backing off to a fence 5 strides away & so they give them a quick spank.
