And remember you are flexing them..not bending them. Thats why the outside rein is so important or else they will probably bulge out if they get the chance. and its also important to think of giving as much as you do pulling..so when you use the reins try to think of pushing the wheelbarrow around the? corner instead of pulling, because if you try pulling a wheel barrow..

What works for me is doing a couple of little circles at the walk trot and canter to get your horse focused more. Try taking a small practice jump a few times, like a cross-rail. I would go into it at a trot if you can. If she goes to fast over the jump, you stop her and do the circles again. ? Hope this helps? let me know!

don't use spurs ... By: mariechantal15. on 23 Aug 09, 13:52:41 don't use spurs when it's not necessary. Using spurs on a? horse that responds well to your leg aids will only desensitize the horse to your leg aids. Only use spurs when you feel that the horse is not feeling your leg. If you feel that your horse isn't responding to your leg aids because it doesn't want to, you can work with your horse to make him more responsive to your leg without using spurs. You can do this by practicing a lot of walk to trot to canter transitions with a few strides between.
