If we remove horses from our? towns it would be a sad day for London to lose the Police, Army & Royal horses & the commercial horses such as Harrods. I sent a horse to Mr Hook to be trained and was very reassured with the focus on making the horse safe in all situations something that was completely overlooked by my previous trainers!! By: MrMarkthecoach. on 12 Apr 11, 21:03:57 I was fortunate enough to have worked with both riding & driving horses in central London in? the late 70's and whilst the traffic was obviously not as busy as it is today the many horses from our yard covered 100's of miles between them each year & I don't recall a single traffic accident, a testament to the horses training and the proof of what can be achieved with the correct approach. I agree there are a minority of inconsiderate drivers but have met these in the country as much as the town

If a horse runs on a country lane, what can happen, it won't give as much damage as driving on a busy road like this. I'm not saying the training isn't good, I see? it is, but many car drivers don't give a shit about horses. If a horse spooks, something that can happen to the best trained horse, as you know well yourself, the results will be devastating. I would never drive my horse in traffic like this.

On the basis of your statement there would be no horses driven at shows or parades - where there are many people, other horses, agricultural equipment, tents, flags etc. Accidents can happen even while standing in a yard. If we are going to take horses from their wild state and use them, surely it is? better for them to be safe, confident and happy wherever they find themselves.

Not only do you have tractors, but often you cannot see hazards approaching due to hedges. There is also barbed wire in fences, banks and ditches,? walkers with dogs (that may chase the horse) - the list is endless. Barry has broken thousands of horses in his lifetime and has never experienced any accidents involving drivers.

4yr old TB gelding being backed.. was fine at first then went nuts after changing rein. settled down after this incident and now walks around the school on the lunge with rider :) will post more videos of his progress! xx

I perfer to leanr over the horse and have someone lead for about the first 5 rides but everyone is differant and you? did nothing wrong! all horses are differant too. I saddle trained one mare and it was like she had been born with a rider, yet another mare gets very tense and you need to go VERY slow with her at first till she relaxes. both mares were raised in abusive and neglectful homes!

Don't ever use a whip on a horse! and yes your right never put a horse in with others until they have been accross fence or stall with them for a week ,week and 1/2. The horses did nothing wrong the owners did.
Could have been prevented , esp if you know you have a horse that is that aggressive? to kick. Blame the owners!

I have a Stud and he is just so funny! He loves to show off and scare you half to death.

The way we ended up with him was because we bought a horse? trailer, and the person we bought it from insisted on giving him to us.. We didn't need another horse so we put him up for adoption. He was so flashy that everyone who saw him wanted him. Tons of people wanted him and he had no trouble finding a perfect forever home. :)
