I do not ride ... By: havanah1988. on 25 May 12, 20:31:27 I do not ride bridle-less, and will not pretend to know a lot about it, but I was wondering the same thing. I have seen people ride with? a basic strap around the horses lower neck, almost where a breast girth would lie, and they seem to be freer with their head carriage.

She hated being bridled and would toss her head constantly no matter what we used on her *former race horse that had people wrench on her mouth far too much...*

I would appreciate more something really unconstrained rather than this air depressing stuff.

an amazing ... By: tanya2horses. on 12 Mar 12, 22:46:13 an amazing performance, such good position of the horse in the lateral movements,he looked a bit excited in the environment but stayed so obedient to you. Loved it. I would think tho that having the strap posibbly lower around the base of his neck you may get an even better head position(eventually)and also be able to use it in a more complimentary fashion to actual bridle and rein application. It also may? work better to communicate better feel and help his emotional energy.(in time of course)
Hi. sorry don't ... By: riverrange. on 12 Mar 12, 13:09:59 Hi. sorry don't have any pics up close at present but the strap around his? neck is the size of a bridle throat strap (it is actually a throat strap taken off a halter). This runs through a small metal ring which sits (due to gravity) under his neck and the reins are actually attached to the metal ring which can move freely on the neck strap.

By: riverrange. on 05 Mar 12, 11:50:20 the training for this horse to go without his bridle is a continuous work in progress and he had not had much practice prior to this event. it was? felt that the leather strap, which is buckled quite loose, has minimum pressure put on it and does not constrict or upset the horse in any way, was the safest option at the time in the offchance should something go wrong and he needed to be controlled by someone other than his rider, me.
