@ponypartnerincrime ... By: LaurieH57. on 23 Mar 12, 15:46:24 @ponypartnerincrime. You are correct - they don't buy their own horses. Neither did Dr. Klimke. They rely on others to buy horses for them. Therefore the pressure? to win and at any cost is even more because they are professionals. Dr. Klimke was not a professional trainer; he was an amateur. There is pressure to win for everyone, of course, But when your livelihood depends upon it, watch out.
I suppose that make ... By: ponypartnerincrime. on 23 Mar 12, 13:50:13 I suppose that make sense
But most of the people that go into the 4 star events aren't on their own horse, but a horse that was brought to them for training. They can pick and choose, but only to a certain extent.
It might not be that everyone is simply copying them. If everyone else is emphases on dressage, to be competitive you have to start really focusing on? it.
@ponypartnerincrime ... By: LaurieH57. on 23 Mar 12, 01:12:05 @ponypartnerincrime IMHO, when prols are allowed to compete in the Olympics, their business is on the line. They will then have a tendency to do anything to win. They then buy really hot, sensitive horses to get the "brilliance". But then? have a problem with control. Then because they are the really big names in the sport, everyone else copies them to compete. Perhaps there is no cause and effect, but the decline started around the same time as allowing pros to compete in the Olympics.
I'm honestly not? ... By: ponypartnerincrime. on 23 Mar 12, 00:59:48 I'm honestly not? trying to be mean or rude or anything, but how has dressage gone downhill because they are now allowing professionals?

This horse is so ... By: YamiNoPri. on 18 Nov 11, 00:40:41 This horse is so relaxed and perfect.... nowadays the GP horses we see at World Cups or Olympics are tense, drooling heavily, the movements irregular and nervous.... stiff, fabricated? horses.... this is natural riding.... too bad that pig Sjef Janssen and his horrible wife bullied their way into the FEI, and now even the Federation accepts that horrible rollkur and those "quick fix" methods of training...

I'm an english ... By: NEdwards193. on 05 Apr 12, 19:13:45 I'm an english rider (hunter/jumper) and have been my entire riding career. I've? never really done any serious dressage, but a friend of mine at my old high school is a western rider (Best in my province) so one day I went to her barn to try it. It was a scene. I would say they are both equally as challenging but in such different ways! I actually think he ... By: NEdwards193. on 05 Apr 12, 19:09:16 I actually think he did a better job on the dressage horse then she did on the western... She got the wrong lead (almost didn't get a canter), couldn't stop him properly and had him all rounded up, even tho they are supposed to be ridden with everything? from their ears to tail in an almost straight line. The western ridder had the dressage horse almost in a proper rollkur and although the things he asked for didn't look even close to perfect the horse did them :) But thats just my opinion :P
Now I have seen ... By: PonyGirl4Jesus. on 01 Apr 12, 21:13:35 Now I have seen every? thing! Personally I think The dressage rider is better than then western rider.... But english riders tend to have more experience than western riders I think.... Depends on the western too....

I am also not a fan ... By: UltimateDQ. on 03 Jun 10, 03:28:31 I am also not a fan of "pulling the head in" and so I don't love some of the terminology this instructor is using. That being? said, some horses have an easier time letting go in their back in a rounder frame, and once the back lets go then the hind legs can come more under. It is very difficult and sometimes counter productive to try to push hind legs into a tight back. Stretching forward has it's place but not so much if we are trying to get the hind legs under.
@UltimateDQ you? ... By: diamondblue16. on 02 Jun 10, 15:16:24 @UltimateDQ you? cannot help a horse come through his back more by pulling his head in. It ALL starts in the hide end. If she wanted to allow him to stretch his back she should let him stretch FORWARD on a long rein.

What you are ... By: UltimateDQ. on 02 Jun 10, 13:57:08 What you are describing is a disunited or cross canter. A counter canter is when you are intentionally on the "wrong" lead, it is a good balancing and collecting exercise. Collecting (in a nutshell, in a dressage sense) is when the horse transfers more weight to the hind legs and makes the steps shorter and higher, it doesn't have so much to do with the head although the horse does have to be round? to do it.

couple reasons: 1.)? he is training the horse to do something new so its just how he trains he wouldnt ride like that if he wasnt training thehorse 2.) he has spurs on 3.) he is a perfessional at what he does. he knos what he is doing exspecially something so beginner as keeping your heels downhe has a strong reason i suspect
