Furthermore, there is an extreme overpopulation of unwanted horses in the United States and therefore unless an animal has great confirmation, temperament, and ability it doesn't need to be bred. Also, horse slaughter is banned in the United States so unwanted horses are often crammed onto overcrowded trailers and shipped to Mexico or Canada. ?

By: barryhook2. on 09 Nov 11, 20:11:40 Our films show what we have achieved with the horses while they are here, however when they leave our hands, whether they have the same level of confidence in the new? driver is down to their owners/driver. We believe horses should be safe, confident and happy in any sphere of harness work and in our opinion that starts with good basic training.

By: barryhook2. on 09 Nov 11, 20:11:29 One of? our new films shows a sharp KWPN standing on a loose rein in front of a moving inflatable with sirens blaring; he is not upset by it. This is why we feel it is important to train horses to be safe, confident and happy right from the beginning of their driven career. We also reschool horses that have bolted, but in most cases this was because in our opinion they had not been properly trained to begin with.

By: barryhook2. on 09 Nov 11, 20:11:13 If you do ever encounter a completely extraordinary situation and the horse is unsure/looks to the driver for direction, whether you ask him to stand still or walk on past, he should do so. Some horses will always be "sharp", but we have broken many of those and after proper training even their answer to a new? situation would not be to run off.

If they are broken properly and introduced to everything you possibly can, although they might still startle, they won't bolt. Its true? that you can't expose a horse to absolutely everything, but this is why there must also be discipline and trust between driver/horse.
hi all, its ... By: coolacutta. on 08 Nov 11, 21:41:37 hi all, its excellent to watch a horse respond to? correct coaching.ive got a question to ask though. would you agree that no matter how many unusual objects ,sounds ,colours or situations a horse is introduced to,there is always that one new situation the next day out that will send him to want to take off. ?basically what im trying to say is that with a horse you just cannot afford to ever say he is bomb proof.
Thanks for your ... By: SantaandCo. on 31 Dec 10, 18:18:03 Thanks for your comment - If you look closely at the video the only time the whip is used in the water is during the turn; the? whip acts like an extension of the hand (i.e. not to hurt a horse, but to "tickle" him) This pony wanted to go straight on in the river but the vehicle we are using on this occasion is too wide to exit the far side; as he had not been in single very long at this stage, he needed the touch as guidance to encourage him to make the tight turn in the water.
