There is always the beginning, initial stage of sitting upright on an unbacked animal. Desensitising the animal from? the shift of balance, momentum an upright object (whether dummy out person) on it's back. How they react is anyones guess. They are mammals not predictable machines. This great idea takes away the possibility of any initial dangers. It naive to suggest it is down to bad horsemanship if one of these is used.

You are completely correct, getting the horse ready for saddle, feel, acceptance of tack etc. The concept of the Ardall is to make the "Backing" process much safer and accustom your horse to the feel of a rider as this is the? most dangerous stage when mounting a horse. When starting horses, we don't get on them if they're saying they might buck or if they're otherwise not ready for the rider. Getting the horse ready for saddle should be about training, not "breaking". Go back to foundation lessons, desensitize, yield to pressure, following the feel, acceptance of tack, and preparing them mentally for doing work asked.

I recorded his neigh,and when i was playing it back, he neighed back. Some might say its cruel, and harsh, but he was not alone, there was another horse with him (look at my other vidoes, it was the white horse). Horses name is Dakota.

How do I know? I foaled her out. I cared for her. She? may well have had a bridle path at the time. She was kept clipped etc. and handled regularly before I left - about the time the training vid was filmed, as I recall.
And yes - she was a very smart filly.

The horse in this video was pasture raised with very little human contact and has no bridle path. Like all things in life, there needs to be a progression, especially with training. By: larkolena. on 26 Mar 08, 14:57:27 i love the gentle way you handle this filly. however, it would be more helpful to people if you used a horse that was a little less domesticated. do i see a bridle path? we have a green pony, and when we used this method to teach him to go forward with us he would? pull backward and try to get away. this filly gives you almost no resistance and is too cooperative for teaching purposes. we'd like to see how you handle resistance. that's just my humble opinion. ;) helpful free info, though. thanks!
