hahaha see idk ... By: horselover12122323. on 22 Aug 10, 17:01:18 hahaha see idk ilike ur way but i was taught to do ice boots and rub down with liniment and sit and? let them dry before going back into there stalls its very time consuming lol , and we dont have fields.
yup I know if ... By: j78166. on 22 Aug 10, 13:38:27 yup I know if theyve worked hard... (not like the horse in this vid!) then they will get hot etc etc, but is it really necessary to ice after popping half a dozen 2'3 fences, on a surface?!
Im currently based with a top event rider in the UK & Ive NEVER seen her ice after a general schooling at home, nor does she tend to bother iceing at events at lower levels (up to? & including BE100- 1.05m).
.... rly sorry but if u bother to ice, I think u need to get a life!!
seriously??!! You ... By: j78166. on 22 Aug 10, 13:35:24 seriously??!! You have too much time & money on your hands!!... or a horse with shocking conformation!!
I jumped one of ours today- he had a 10 min walk off to cool off, was washed off & put straight out in the field- all of our horses on the yard get this whatever they do, we have NEVER had a horse go lame through jumping related ailments. If I spent time iceing, bandaging, then hosing off the ice every time I jumped, Id never get? the yard done every day!!
horses are triple ... By: horseriderhannah. on 21 Aug 10, 21:52:52 horses are triple times as hot as u are? so they NEED it loads! they can sweet alot on just a normal non jumping lesson!
i ice my horse even ... By: horselover12122323. on 04 May 10, 22:25:10 i ice my horse even if we only? jump a cross rail, its a lot of stress on them the need it plus it wont do any harm...... :)
i agree...its not ... By: JadeSparrow92. on 08 Apr 09, 23:04:51 i agree...its not as if the horse was doing any major jumping....
and letting the horse step on the cooler after letting it drag on the ground is probably not the best idea...any one of the horses at my barn would not? have been happy with stepping on that
I dont know anyone ... By: j78166. on 05 Jan 09, 23:33:54 I dont know anyone who actually ices and bandages their horse after jumping a few fences at 2'3". i only bandage if I have been? eventing on hard ground and they are going to be stabled overnight as fluid can collect in their legs if they are not walking around. Yes I do believe that you should walk them off for at least 10minutes after jumping but I think after jumping it is a waste of time bandaging.
