American horses. Among the all time European greats it's always Brigadier Gerard, Mill Reef, Nijinsky, or Sea Bird. You can argue a few these may have had a better overall career than Secretariat did. But there's no horse on this list or anywhere else that would've gotten to within 10 lengths of Secretariat in the 73' Belmont. That was God showing off that day!!

It weighed 22 pounds, compared to 18 for a "normal" thoroughbred. This allowed for a much greater flow of oxygen, thus allowing him to be able to do what he did.
