By: kathleenmknights. on 26 Jan 12, 20:14:14 safety stirrups are appropriate? in short stirrup and pony classes but are not appropriate for older riders- a good rule of thumb is that if you can wear jodphurs and paddock boots, peacock irons are fine; tall boots should have a regular fillis iron.

Regardless of the ... By: AnswerToEverything09. on 22 Apr 12, 21:57:04 Regardless of the negative comments, it is a great idea and design. There is always the beginning, initial stage of sitting upright on an unbacked animal. Desensitising the animal from the shift of balance, momentum an upright object (whether dummy out person) on it's back. How they react is anyones guess. They are mammals not predictable machines. This great idea takes away the possibility of any initial dangers. It naive to? suggest it is down to bad horsemanship if one of these is used.
People saying about ... By: xXeMokiDXxMCRXx. on 22 Apr 12, 13:51:19 People saying about riders not needing these because if you back a horse correctly it doesn't buck etc etc. Not all horses are happy little plods, horses are animals not robots, your perfect pony who was perfect to back could one day throw you into barbed wire. Your nutty youngster that terrifies you? could allow a rider on it without hesitation. No matter how much training you go through horses will not always behave and this is what it was created for!

Yes indeed this is ... By: safetyrider. on 30 Aug 11, 19:10:21 Yes indeed this is a real product. The Ardall was launched at the Dublin Horse Show this year and has proven very successful. You are completely correct, getting the horse ready for saddle, feel, acceptance of tack etc. The concept of the Ardall is to make? the "Backing" process much safer and accustom your horse to the feel of a rider as this is the most dangerous stage when mounting a horse. No trainer/rider can ever predict what a young unbacked horse can or will do. Hopes this helps
this is amusing. ... By: mayleenMD. on 30 Aug 11, 14:25:42 this is amusing. Is it a real product? When starting horses, we don't get on them if they're saying they might buck or if they're otherwise not ready for the rider. Getting the horse ready for saddle should be about training, not "breaking". Go back to foundation lessons, desensitize, yield to pressure, following the feel, acceptance of tack, and preparing them mentally for doing work asked.?
