You can't just talk the vacuum completely away from it or it will learn that acting up will get it what it wants. It was completely fine after a couple of strokes with the vacuum.

There's nothing ... By: citydog. on 22 Feb 09, 23:08:26 There's nothing wrong with vacuums. I've yet to meet a horse who hasn't quickly learned to calmly tolerate it. Most in my care have actually learned to really enjoy it, especially? along the midline. :) It's great for getting out the worst of the dust and/or caked-on mud quickly and without getting it all on the groom instead. You can (and should!) then follow up with the regular grooming procedure for coat health, circulation, toning and checking for lumps and bumps.
It's a nice idea to ... By: drafthorseMD. on 07 Mar 08, 20:54:21 It's a nice idea to show this & educate people. However the horse really doesn't look happy. Suggestion: desensitize him to the vacuum and/or use a horse who likes the sensation.? I personally don't like the feeling of a vacuumn hose full pressure on my skin, so perhaps some thin-skinned horses would never learn to enjoy this.
