The Canadian levels are different, and I think the British levels are named like? the Canadian. Need more help on that than what I can give - my information is a few years old they could have changed it. So then I guess the answer is that what you were told is pre-novice is the same as Beginner Novice, that's the official name for it. Lots of folks lovingly call it 'Baby Novice'

The dressage test used to be walk-trot. Someone who competes at that level could answer better than I could I'm sure, or the usea. I'm not familiar with pre-novice, is? that a hunter class?
