The horse is 100% by his job, and listening to his rider. I like it. I think by LDR is not only the question how deep is the horse, its more how hard is the riders hand!

I crossed the ... By: louinwy1. on 22 Jan 11, 22:11:56 I crossed the billets on my dressage saddle in addition to using a Barnsby no-slip pad, to prevent my saddle from being? pulled forward onto the horse's shoulder. My mare has a "girth pocket" that is very far forward from where I sit in the saddle, so the crossing prevents the saddle from being pulled down in the front and keeps the pressure more even along the length of the saddle. Not ideal, but there you go.

I do not ride ... By: havanah1988. on 25 May 12, 20:31:27 I do not ride bridle-less, and will not pretend to know a lot about it, but I was wondering the same thing.? I have seen people ride with a basic strap around the horses lower neck, almost where a breast girth would lie, and they seem to be freer with their head carriage.
with one of my ... By: MewSilverGold. on 22 May 12, 01:09:25 with one of my ponies he cant stand? the bit! Wont even listen to my legs. So a halter and leader is the way to go.
I didn't know that ... By: Shokara2. on 21 May 12, 16:09:38 I didn't know that you would be allowed to? compete without a bridle. If I had known that I would have been doing that with my horse. She hated being bridled and would toss her head constantly no matter what we used on her *former race horse that had people wrench on her mouth far too much...*
LOL the "airtube" ... By: Shokara2. on 21 May 12, 16:07:35 LOL the "airtube" clearly you don't know anatomy. And if you cant tell.. the horse isn't being strangled or "air depressing stuff" ? its just a loose band around the front of his neck for contact. It doesn't hurt him. Geeze.
Its only a leadrope ... By: SixCatBand. on 19 May 12, 17:39:27 Its only a leadrope around the neck, not even? tied up, just held buy the rider.
What kind of stuff ... By: holunderblume. on 12 May 12, 19:35:10 What kind of stuff is that thing you are riding with? It looks like it is going? around the neck, crossing at the airtube directly beneath the throat.
I would appreciate more something really unconstrained rather than this air depressing stuff.

No tail wringing!? ... By: charlienchico. on 27 Mar 12, 17:31:12 No tail wringing!? No foam dripping from the mouth (when that comes with the severe headset concerns me more about airway restriction than a small line about the neck).

an amazing ... By: tanya2horses. on 12 Mar 12, 22:46:13 an amazing performance, such? good position of the horse in the lateral movements,he looked a bit excited in the environment but stayed so obedient to you. Loved it. I would think tho that having the strap posibbly lower around the base of his neck you may get an even better head position(eventually)and also be able to use it in a more complimentary fashion to actual bridle and rein application. It also may work better to communicate better feel and help his emotional energy.(in time of course)
Hi. sorry don't ... By: riverrange. on 12 Mar 12, 13:09:59 Hi. sorry don't have any pics up close at present but the strap around his neck is the size of a bridle throat strap (it is actually a throat strap taken off a halter). This runs through a small metal ring which sits (due to gravity) under his neck and the reins? are actually attached to the metal ring which can move freely on the neck strap.

the training for ... By: riverrange. on 05 Mar 12, 11:50:20 the training for this horse to go without his bridle is a continuous work in progress and he had not had much practice prior to this event. it was felt that the leather strap, which is buckled quite loose, has minimum pressure put on it and does not constrict or upset the horse? in any way, was the safest option at the time in the offchance should something go wrong and he needed to be controlled by someone other than his rider, me.
