Plus her ears were still forward and she had a pleasant expression during them. A horse with this much power in its hind end would give a real buck if it wanted. And if she were completely on the forehand it would be impossible for her to do this movement. No she's not sitting on her haunches as much as is typical, but again, she was young.

I perhaps did come off a little angry. but that doesn't make me as you so indearingly put it: a stupid piece of c'''''.
IF you look even closer she does give three small bucks during this short vid, plus her hindlegs doesn't carry any weight.? And her ears are not flopping she's moving them!
@Techieness Relaxed ... By: Marixxen2. on 18 Oct 11, 18:43:03 @Techieness Relaxed? you don't know what you are talking about. this horse is so forced on it's forhead she strains her neck for every step she takes. Can't you se? that? She not collected from behind at all. No weight on the hindquaters - which is moste of the point, because a tru relaxed horse will then freely be on the vertical line as wel then.
@missymatch123 If ... By: Marixxen2. on 18 Oct 11, 18:37:11 @missymatch123 If this horse was so extremely enthusiastic when she performed, why is her tale turning all the time? everbody knows that's a sign of uncomfort. Why does it do a little buck at 1:18? Why is it tense all through it's neck and back and having more weight on it's fronlegs than hindquarters? I don't se a? horse working freely when the spurs in it's side every step it takes... if this is what you call "love her job" then, yes, I really disagree.
@Marixxen2 Horses ... By: missymatch123. on 24 Sep 11, 07:37:44 @Marixxen2 Horses that show lack of enthusiasm and? talent in dressage are not used for it. It is not worth the investment for the owner/trainer. Horses that show the desire and interest in the subject are further trained in it. Same with jumping horses. Horses that don't like jumping, aren't used for jumping. This mare was extremely enthusiastic when she performed, which is why she was so pleasant to watch. She loved her job,I could care less for your agreement. I am entitled to my own opinion.

There are no flies or anything else she'd need to get rid of. And just because the ears are bouncing isn't a sign of relaxation, it's just another sign of tension, unnatual tension. You try to work hard with your head like that for hours and you'd be out of breath pretty quickly and your back would be very tense.

@missymatch123 Why ... By: Marixxen2. on 26 Mar 11, 13:03:58 @missymatch123 Why people don't understand that is because it's wrong. Horses are very easy to force to do just about everthing. That's one of the reasons we could use them in war for instance. But I suppose you think the horses wanted to do that too? Imagine a horse trying not to do as the human asks him to. usually the horse wil get whiped or more or less "beaten" until he obeys. This is the fact: the horse would? rater do a piaffe then get whipped... (to put it briefly)

The average horse ... By: missymatch123. on 31 Aug 10, 01:43:21 The average horse weighs well over 1,000 pounds. If they? really don't want to do something, they won't do it. Due to the size difference between people and horses, humans cannot "force" a horse to do a piaff. She is doing it because she wants to. I don't see why people don't understand that.
@AnamCaraDressage ... By: missymatch123. on 31 Aug 10, 01:40:03 @AnamCaraDressage Ear flapping is a sign of a horse being relaxed actually. Every horse is different. So I don't see how anyone can sit here and say "oh she hates it" Because NONE of you(including me) know how she is. Example, Judgement ridden by Beezie Madden is often seen jumping with? his ears pinned back. That doesn't mean he hates jumping. If he hated it he would not do it, along with Blue Hors Matine.
@Techieness horse ... By: AnamCaraDressage. on 02 Aug 10, 00:10:38 @Techieness horse ears are not supposed to flap when being ridden... they are supposed to be turned back a little, listening to the rider. An Equestrian goes looking for an animal who has potential to improve talents that are already there in most horses--agility, patience, heart, curiosity and intelligence.
Agility, to do some "man, humans? are WEIRD" stuff
Patience, to do them over and over
Heart, to play this odd game even when they're having a "Bad Hair Day"
Curiosity, an eagerness to find out "what comes next?"
Intelligence, which brings them the sure knowledge of "Hey, I got it RIGHT!"
Fluffy-Headed folk ... By: DamiettadCarnivalle. on 12 Jun 11, 17:00:58 Fluffy-Headed folk BEWARE! Here are a few simple truths, and you won't like them!
Horses in the "Wild" live about 10? years. IF they survive their first winter.
#1 Cause of Death is winter starvation
"Wild" horses are actually feral [Look it up].
They have all the interspecies sociality of a 1200 lb Feral Hog . . . thus no 12-year old virgin girls should be anywhere NEAR the Pwetty ponies until the Pwetty Ponies have been taught some manners.
This process does NOT involve fields of wildflowers

By: DamiettadCarnivalle. on 12 Jun 11, 16:48:08 I am continually amazed? by the number of fluffy-headed folk I encounter who believe that horses should only be ridden by 12-year old virgin girls, without nasty saddles, or icky bridles--they should romp unencumbered by awkward reality thru heavenly fields of edible [by the horse] wildflowers . . . the child, presumably, brought a lunch? Tho if she were TRUELY a horse lover, she would be willing to starve, rather than corrupt her horsie with the smell of something as unNATURAL as peanut butter

Maybe he's giving extra strong signals on the warmup to prepare? the horse. Cause he doesn't lean back when performing. Also, the swishing of the tail can be just to stay in balance. By: lexusascheman. on 06 Sep 09, 18:16:51 Thanks, now that we agree to disagree, in training the trainer must teach the horse to perform the moves as classically taught by the? masters. Now, the if what you say is correct, this horse should be doing most of the work without aids. One or two ads good to move forward and be happy.....I think too many aids here -- although a very difficult move yes, but still the horse should be happy to give piaffe and passage without much of a push.
"It's you job to ... By: lexusascheman. on 06 Sep 09, 18:00:57 "It's you job to make it easy for the horse." Well, classically speaking, the horse is suppose to make it easy for the rider -- hence good basic training i.e. the horse to carry the rider. Therefore, we must agree to disagree here. If the rider? is carriing the horse -- not dressage. If the horse is carring the rider correctly -- slowly, through the back and happy -- all is good in the dressage world.
I beg to differ,. ... By: forbzilla. on 06 Sep 09, 04:20:10 I beg to differ,. There's? a difference in training and showing. You really do sometimes want to add your weight to the hind leg, where the horse's weight should be. Does it make sense to lean forward--think about it!)
The feeling you get after Rudolf has been on is the horse asking: "what can I do for you?"
The recommendation Rudolf gives most often is "It is YOUR job to make it easy for the horse!"
doing something very, very difficult. Look again.

I think the? thing ... By: AngeltheAwesome. on 30 Apr 09, 07:24:22 I think the? thing is that Andreas is leaning back, which makes it more difficult for a horse to passage and piaffe. When training a horse for either movement you have to teach it to be balanced with the rider, and if you lean back it throws off that balance, which explains why she's working so hard
Continuing on the ... By: darkduet. on 21 Mar 09, 21:49:59 Continuing on the spur thing... I don't know if it's just me... but I do wear spurs but I don't use them unless I absolutely HAVE to. I like a horse that is responsive off of the slightest touch. It is also much prettier to watch. No tail swishing (ok maybe at times!)? And my legs are quite. Is it really that hard to ride the GP movements w/o constantly spurring? I've ridden the piaffe as well as the passage and found that I did not need to spur the horse this much..
I think Matine's ... By: darkduet. on 21 Mar 09, 21:48:34 I think Matine's problem is she is not built really for dressage. In some of the trot videos of her, she looks a tad down hill. She has a large front end as well. Which in turn, makes it much more difficult on her. She also appears to have a thick throat latch. Granted, she is a? very gorgeous horse. She works super hard. The main problem I've noticed with (not just this rider) GP riders is that they rely on their damn spurs SO much. I mean, just watch the riders legs.

I think the score ... By: MzEmz307. on 29 Nov 08, 06:20:29 I think the score was 75.20%, and he came? 7th. I think they probably penalised him for the vocals, which seems a little neaderthal to me, you're never going to bring dressage to the masses with that attitude. I've had the privilege to see him at Equitana 08 in Melbourne, and his training techniques are brilliant, so soft. Anyone that criticises him is a jealous moron! Shame he's married and a little too old for me, but he has excellent taste in music!

I totally Agree ... By: fallding123. on 13 Oct 08, 22:38:41 I totally Agree with you there! Have we seen Matine compete since Aachen 2006? No, i reckon she's suffered stage fright ever since that wonderful kur she did in 2006, she was in my likin to young and was not mature enough to cope with that atmosphere hence why we have not seen her? since? Andreas is finishing his contract with Blue hors at the end of the year so no more Matine and andreas.

Ah, ... By: BanRollkur. on 12 Apr 10, 10:34:40 @deeallen2
Ah, now we're agreeing. The use of Rollkur in itself is, imo, aggressive riding. Anky, Edward, Andreas and many more are all guilty of doing this.
Dressage is supposed to be harmonious, which is greatly lacking in modern day? dresage competition.

By: BanRollkur. on 12 Apr 10, 08:00:40 If those of you who think swishing the tail is good - then I seriously suggest you look at the FEI rules for dressage,? where it is stated that grinding the teeth or swishing of tails is a sign of nervousness or tension! By: gsukrw06. on 17 Nov 09, 20:44:00 really? because my German certified instructor taught me that the flicking of the tail is a sign of relaxation and submission....this piaffe isnt the best but i'd say? that its being exagerated for training purposes because he's obviously not doing a test. plus, if the horse were truly angry as you say then the ears would be flat; not attentive. lol, some of the top dressage tests ever ridden have tail flicking throughout!! @pjproudify They swish their tails because they're happy and they foam at the mouth because they are accepting the? bit, which gives a soft mouth, foaming is a very good thing, shows the horse is listening:)

By: Starlight88561. on 26 Jan 12, 01:46:59
@mrduje try riding a horse before you open your mouth. you'd be amazed at how hard it is. I haven't gotten bucked off yet, but i've come close many, many times. these horses- even the ones who are old or have had the best of training- can spook and throw? a rider. one little mistake in a jumping competion has cost alot of people their lives. even though this is dressage, just one wrong move could make you loose the round
