Janssen and his horrible wife bullied their way into the FEI, and now even the Federation accepts that horrible rollkur and those "quick fix" methods of training...

I'm all for advancement of the sport, but I can't get behind progress achieved through cruelty. I think what people miss about dressage of the past is the pursuit of? lightness and harmony, because isn't that what dressage is suppose to be about?

People wonder why modern horses are rounder? Why gates are "freakishly large". It's because the sport has advanced.
Look at human athletes, do they look like? ordinary humans? No. Does an Olympic gymnast's movements look like a normal person's? No. Our understanding of equine biomechanics has evolved, modern horses work through their bodies much more fully.

When Klimke won, he got a standing? ovation and there were tears all around. Even those who didn't know what they were seeing, knew what they saw: brilliance, beauty and Art. I hate to say it, but few of today's "top" riders hold a candle to this great German rider and horse!
