Tyson has always been a top-speed specialist(probably the best) but the fact that he has been the second worst place in the start it does not detract from the merit of reaching that figure (9.69). You are doing a trial basis on a observation simply comparative.
His start was .078, not bad, better than average start, BUT we do not have the analysis (in terms of 10 meters) of all race to reach a more accurate conclusion.

If i can find a good enough version maybe I'll try do video splits.
This race tells me Gay peaked late.
If Tyson stays healthy for 1 season, I see sub-.6 times.

Uh, NO. That is NOT why this race was "controversial". This race has attracted attention because Gay had the 7th-worst start in the race, was in 7th at 30 meters, and somehow, amazingly, produced a second-half run that STILL became the record.
The actual reason this race is interesting is that with an average start, Gay could have run in the low .6s. With a great start, one can only imagine the time.
*Those* are the reasons sports scientists have become interested in this race.
