The horse must have been very talented but more importantly he was taught to carry himself correctly and was brought along to have the muscle tone and fitness to move this well. I love how forward this horse is and how he carries his gaits himself. Horses today rely so much on leg to create the gait, impulsion, and movement instead of being taught to stabilize themselves. It must have been truly incredible to work with a horse like this.?

Not sure about the theory but it might be because success is essential now for the riders to earn money. So you have to be successful and you might more readily use methods that? are working against a horse. The horse has to function and is no team partner anymore but a tool to earn your living.

talented...i wishd id was like finlands reiner klimke?
By: LaurieH57. on 23 Mar 12, 15:46:24
@ponypartnerincrime. You are correct - they don't buy their own horses. Neither did Dr. Klimke. They rely on others to buy? horses for them. Therefore the pressure to win and at any cost is even more because they are professionals. Dr. Klimke was not a professional trainer; he was an amateur. There is pressure to win for everyone, of course, But when your livelihood depends upon it, watch out.

I suppose that make sense But most of the people that go into the 4 star events aren't on their own horse, but a horse that was brought to them for training. They can pick and choose, but only to a certain extent. It might not be that everyone is simply copying them. If everyone else is emphases? on dressage, to be competitive you have to start really focusing on it.

@ponypartnerincrime IMHO, when prols are allowed to compete in the Olympics, their business is on the line. They will then have a tendency to do anything to win. They then buy really hot, sensitive horses to get the "brilliance". But then have a problem with control. Then because they are the really big names? in the sport, everyone else copies them to compete. Perhaps there is no cause and effect, but the decline started around the same time as allowing pros to compete in the Olympics.

I'm honestly not trying to be mean or rude or anything, but how has dressage gone downhill because they are now? allowing professionals?
By: LaurieH57. on 17 Mar 12, 01:26:30
This was still when AMATEURS? competed in the Olympics. Dr. Klimke was an amateur, as well as everyone else. I believe that dressage has gone downhill because the FEI now allows professionals to compete at the Olympics. BTW, I was in those bleachers, too! Hot, hot, hot. This was a brilliant ride!

I find it so inspiring to? see so much "forwardness" in all the paces. Refreshing when compared with the modern day exaggerated paces which so compromise the relaxation and forward motion we see here. RK is a genius!
By: YamiNoPri. on 18 Nov 11, 00:40:41
This horse is so relaxed and perfect.... nowadays? the GP horses we see at World Cups or Olympics are tense, drooling heavily, the movements irregular and nervous.... stiff, fabricated horses.... this is natural riding.... too bad that pig Sjef Janssen and his horrible wife bullied their way into the FEI, and now even the Federation accepts that horrible rollkur and those "quick fix" methods of training...
By: Buckaroossunnymagic. on 16 Nov 11, 17:26:45
Oh, wonderful! FINALLY after I've watched dozens of videos here ONE rider whose horse just moves? as relaxed as it should be!! Not comparable with what you see today! Thank you for this great video!

OMG. was it that long? I feel so old. It was wonderful, I remember it still. Don't know? anyone has the you know whats to critiscize a masterful ride. ;/
By: krzxalien. on 20 Sep 11, 05:40:40
Exactly. The? horse is visibly falling in the half pass. His back is hollow. His trot/passage is weak in the hind end.
